Wednesday, February 21, 2007 Well today is my due date, but have had two false starts with labour, so I’ve been pretty sore and tired, and haven’t been doing any spinning and little knitting. Sitting upright at my wheel isn’t too comfy at the moment, but reclining on the couch to knit is just peachy, although I’ve been a little tired to do anything much.
Although yesterday I decided to stop by the yarn store to pick up the Spring Interweave Knits magazine I was looking forward to, and they had an anniversary sale! 20% off all in stock items, plus some additional sales. Whee! So of course I needed to pick up a few things.
3 skeins of Rowan Cashsoft Aran in Oatmeal (001) for the Baby Shrug from Debbie Bliss’ Simply Baby book:
The pattern calls for Cashmerino Aran but I loved working with the Cashsoft DK for the Bunny Ears Hat so much I wanted to use the Aran version instead of the Cashmerino, and it was such a pretty colour, it’s called Oatmeal but it really is kind of a pale champagne pink.
Also three skeins of Colinette Giotto in Dark Umber (89) at half price to make a big open mesh poncho from the Viva Ponchos book (can’t find a picture but it’s big and pretty and summery):
Also three skeins of Rowan All Seasons Cotton in Mocha (193) for 75% off (yay)!
I already had a few skeins of this colour that I was going to use to make a striped cardi for Nate with another colour, but now I think I’ll make a solid sweater for him all from Mocha. I had bought the others already on sale at the same store, so they’re even from the same dyelot. Whoo! I’m thinking that will be either the Jake sweater from the Rowan Junior book, or perhaps the Duel sweater from Rowan Babies.
Lastly I picked up two skeins of Fleece Artist fingering superwash merino (Cosmic Dawn on the left, Hercules on the right):
One will be for the gauntlets from Sally Melville’s The Purl Stitch, and the other will be for the Diamonds on the Diagonal scarf by Ilga Leja.
Once more, new yarn for projects to be knit when? But how could I resist, the sale was spectacular. And my current yarn aquisition policy is it’s okay to stash as long as it’s for specific projects… so everything fits the bill, right? (Just nod and smile.) In the meantime, I sit and await the new arrival.
