Well, a few little projects on the go right now – I’ve been working on some spinning here and there, I’m trying to get caught up on some of the fiber club goodies as well as digging into the fiber stash a little. Here’s one I just finished up:

Sweetness ~ 80/20 Merino/Silk
Sweetness ~ 80/20 Merino/Silk, 169 yards

I’ve started getting pictures up on Flickr pretty regularly, and am going to keep a Spinning Journal for the year in photos in my gallery there, if you want to peek in on what I am up to more often than I seem to get to blogging about it. Between raverly and Flickr I am wondering if I need a blog anymore… hmm…
in other knitterly news –

I want to knit a sweater. For me. Actually, I’ve wanted to knit myself a sweater since I began knitting (about 4.5 years ago now). I love shawls and wraps. I have yarn stockpiled to make many. I think they are so beautiful and I love the intricate patterning on some, and when you aren’t using them you can drape them on things to admire them. And also? They’re flat. What does this have to do with sweaters? Tons. At least for me.

I was wondering about why I have no handknit sweaters the other day, as I browsed through many a gorgeous ravelry sweater project, plotting and planning. Then I really thought about it, and realized my affinity for accessories is partly due to a practical nature. Since I have started knitting, I have had two babies. Out of that 4.5 years, that’s 18 months of being pregnant, and (going on) 2 years of nursing. That’s almost 4 years right there! Not to mention the general ups and downs of body shape during that time. I have no sweaters because I have no size. Or too much size. Whichever it is, I don’t know what size I actually am going to be.

I also have no sweaters because I haven’t been doing much knitting. Just little bits in drips and drabs… in that same 4.5 years I also started spinning, and dyeing… and time I spend spinning is time I am not knitting… so still. No sweaters.

Well, I hope to remedy that. I’ve decided to join a Knitalong started by Sheri at The Loopy Ewe. I think I’m a little mental on this front, because obviously I am not knitting a whole lot at the moment, but, it sounds fun and maybe I’ll get an actual garment out of it. The criteria are simple: knit a sweater using DIC Classy, pick any pattern you want, finish by June 1. That’s a few months, I think I can do it. So, now I need to decide on a pattern. I have a few options, since I have some Classy already set aside for a Central Park Hoodie, but also I ordered some for A Cardigan for Arwen and to make an Imogen. I’m definitely thinking caridgan because of the aforementioned measurement issue. The other option is to make the DIC shrug, which I have had pattern and yarn for for a while too, but I kind of want to go the full sweater route. Hmm, decisions, decisions. I guess I have some time to decide as I am waiting on some of the yarn. Mmm, smooshyness.
We’ll see if I can actually get it done. Wish me luck!
