So right now I’m 34 weeks pregnant. Six weeks to go until the pea arrives, and I’m starting to be a little fretful of the fact that with a two year old and a newborn I won’t be able to knit or spin for some time. Now I know when women are pregnant, there is a natural instinct called nesting that supposedly happens during the late stages, where you try to get everything ready for the baby and stock up on baby stuff and clothing and that sort of thing. I do definitely have some of that going on, but more prominently, I think I’m knitty nesting. In response to my fear of not being able to knit, I’m stashing more yarn! And needles! How is this at all logical? I think I won’t be able to knit or spin, so I get more yarn and fiber? It makes no sense. But somehow, it does. Hee.

A friend at work pointed out to me that perhaps I am subconsciously taking the term “nesting” too literally, as I am actually stocking up on string, sticks, and fluff, which really is what a nest is made of. Hilarious. So I guess I could just use all that yarn to build myself a giant yarn nest to hide out in the next few weeks. Maybe a giant version of Kitty Pi? Wouldn’t that be nice and cozy? And to top it all off I can wrap myself up in the Fleece Artist Splendid Sofa afghan kit I ordered in a fit of said yarn nesting. Sweet.
